Here are the answers to some of the questions you may have in trying to choose which item to order or how to serve the gift you received. What should I do when I receive a Holiday Ham via UPS?

Upon receiving, remove it from the box and the outside packaging material. This includes the gift box, Styrofoam Cooler and padded insulation sleeve which will leave it in our heavy-duty freezer bag and gold foil. Think about when you will be serving it. If you will be serving it within the next couple of days refrigerate it immediately, leaving it within the heavy-duty freezer plastic and gold foil it arrives in to extend its shelf life. If you do not plan on serving it within 5 days, immediately put it in the freezer, keeping it again in the same foil and freezer wrap packaging. Allow three days to thaw in the refrigerator before serving at room temperature.

Can my ham be frozen?

Since our gourmet hams do not have water added, they freeze wonderfully. After initial use, freeze leftovers as soon as possible. You may want to freeze small portions, the whole ham or the bone. To insure that savory taste, freeze no longer than 45 days. Take out the small portion, heat in a microwave oven serve on a sandwich or a meal.

How long will my ham keep?

It is important to keep your Holiday Ham carefully wrapped as we ship it in the gold foil and freezer bag and refrigerated. Our gourmet hams contain less salt than ordinary ham, which allows for its savory taste. Unless frozen, it should be consumed within 7 to 10 days.

Can your hams be heated?

Our hams are spiral sliced for your convenience and not water added. Heating the whole ham will only dry it out. If you desire, you may cut slices of ham from the bone and heat in a skillet or microwave.

Are your hams fully cooked?

Your Holiday Ham is fully cooked and ready to serve at room temperature. It was slow smoked over hickory embers for more than 28 hours. We suggest serving at room temperature. Our hams are not water added, heating the whole ham will only dry it out.

How much ham do I need to serve my guests?

To decide what size ham you may want to order consider first how many guests you will be serving and check our guideline below. Be sure to take into consideration whether you are counting a lot of hearty eaters or small children. Also if you are serving a second entree you may want to use the buffet serving suggestions.

How do I serve my Holiday Ham?

Holiday Hams are fully cooked and ready to serve. We recommend serving them at room temperature. Just take them out of the refrigerator 30-45 minutes prior to serving to bring them to room temperature.

Your ham is already spiral sliced to the bone. To remove the slices easily from the bone and make serving easier look at the face of the ham, using a sharp knife slice directly around the bone. You may then cut directly back from the front of the ham along the hams natural fat lines you will see at about 2 o’clock and 10 o’clock as you look at the front of the ham. A third cut straight down from the bone will basically divide the large slices in thirds. This eases serving for large holiday groups of varying ages or in any buffet.

Can it be frozen?

It is important to keep your Holiday Ham turkey item carefully wrapped and refrigerated. Our gourmet turkeys contain less salt than ordinary smoked meats, which allows for its savory taste. Unless frozen, it should be consumed within 7-10 days. Be sure to freeze leftovers if you are not going to use right away.

Note our whole turkeys will keep in the refrigerator for up to 60 days if the sealed package is unopened. Once opened it too, should be consumed within 5 days or freeze leftovers.

How do I know I received a turkey breast, as it is smoked and slightly pink like a ham?

Turkey breasts have been slow smoked over hickory embers for more than 28 hours. This gives the turkey a slightly pink color. Because we smoke our turkey breast over hickory embers as we do our hams. Many people think it is a ham. Our turkey breasts are moist and tender with a sweet and smokey flavor. Do Not Heat you will only dry it out.

Can your turkey breast or whole turkeys be heated?

Do Not Heat our sliced and glazed turkey breast. They are very moist and tender. Because they are sliced, heating them in an oven will ruin the moist and tender flavor. If you desire to heat your turkey breast we suggest laying out slices on a platter and warm to taste.

Whole Turkeys may be heated by removing the plastic, wrapping the turkey lightly in foil and placing it in a covered roasting pan with a little water at 275 degrees for 90 minutes. Since the whole turkeys are not sliced this is the preferred method of serving warm. Some people have had great success warming them in a crock pot for a couple of hours at medium heat with a little added water.

How do I serve my Holiday turkey item?

Holiday Ham turkeys are fully cooked and ready to serve. We recommend serving them at room temperature. Just take them out of the refrigerator 20-30 minutes prior to serving to bring them to room temperature. Your turkey breast is already specially sliced and ready to serve while the whole smoked turkey will need to be carved.

Do I need to heat this?

All you need to do is tear open the flavor seal foil pouch and your salmon is ready to serve! The salmon is 100% bone free! Do not heat.

Is there salt added to the salmon?

We use the minimum amount required in the special brine recipe, therefore, there is no salty taste. The salt content is 340 mg. per two ounces.

What is the oil in the pouch?

The oil in the pouch is the natural oil from the salmon. NO OIL IS ADDED TO THE SALMON. Sockeye Salmon is the highest in Omega III oil and very good for lowering human blood cholesterol.

If I do refrigerate the unopened pouch, will it last even longer?

It will only be a waste of your refrigerator space. If you plan on saving your unopened pouch of salmon or oysters, then we suggest you store it in the original gift box to keep the pouch free from being punctured.

Can very cold or very hot temperatures affect the product?

Smoked Sockeye Salmon has been shipped around the world under all kinds of climate conditions. Hot or cold temperatures have not ever affected the product; however, we do not recommend storing for any long period of time in either extreme of temperature.

How is this salmon different from Lox?

Lox is a cold, light smoke (nearly raw product). Gold Seal Smoked Sockeye Salmon is Northwest style, Alderwood-smoked and fully cooked.

Tell me about your Smoked Sockeye Salmon.

This is a Sockeye (red) Salmon which has been Alderwood-smoked and is then fully cooked in the vacuum-sealed gold foil pouch There are no chemicals, preservatives or nitrates in Gold Seal Smoked Sockeye Salmon.

The Gold Seal pouch the smoked salmon comes packaged in is like a “flexible can” – as long as it is not opened, punctured or leaking, it will stay good for many years (just like a can). The product will be good for at least five years, and even that is conservative. This method of preservation seals the product so as to require no refrigeration until the pouch is opened…then, of course, it is perishable and will keep in the refrigerator for 7-10 days.

How can I redeem a Holiday Ham Co. Gift Certificate?

Do you offer discounts for volume orders?

We offer discounts for shipping orders over $500. If ordering on the website these discounts automatically are applied to a one time order at 3% for orders over $500 and 5% for orders over $2000. Larger order discounts may vary as to whether all items are being shipped to the same address or to various addresses. Please call our office for additional information and prices. 913-894-0222.

Where are your stores located?

Our family owned main store has been located at 11548 W 95th Street, Overland Park, KS 66214 since 1988. We are located on the northeast corner of 95th Street And Quivira Avenue across from the Oak Park Mall. We are open 10am-6pm Monday through Friday and 10am-5pm Saturdays with extended seasonal hours.
